For those of you who don't already know, as the weather started to get colder I decided to break down the garden but I just could not bare to kill my tomato plant. It's my baby, raised from a seedling, I mean, how could I just dump it? Besides it had about 50 ripening tomatoes left on it so I brought it inside, set up a lamp and hoped for the best. Well it payed off, I know have ripe yellow pear tomatoes that I'll serve with my veggie plate for thanksgiving. As noted in a previous post, I have had some problems with caterpillars on this plant. Tonight I harvested some of the tomatoes and made a new discovery: a baby caterpillar living INSIDE one of the tomatoes! I know nothing about caterpillars how their life cycle so perhaps this is completely normal but I found myself fascinated by this little thing. On the one hand he is eating my tomatoes and I should hate him but on the other hand, he's so cute! After snapping some pictures I set him inside the tomato in the trash. I like to think he will survive there at least for a little while.
