Mirror Mirror on the Wall...

When I first moved into my apartment what I was most excited about was putting stuff on the walls. Framed posters and artwork and all these things I collected over the years. What I realized was that I had a lot of wall space and very varied tastes. I also had no job which left me with a lot of time on my hands. On a trip to Ikea I picked up a small wooden mirror for $3. I had no idea what I would do with it but for $3 why not. The first mirror I made was created using Martha Stewart Halloween craft stickers. I called it, "The Raven" cause it reminds me of Poe. Since then I have made a bunch of mirrors using all sorts of materials. Now every time I'm in Ikea I pick up a mirror just to have on hand in case I get inspired. The mirrors are one of those things that I can pick up and do in an hour and just make my day better. They also are great (and cheap) gifts. The best part is, each mirror is a blank slate that you take and create something that no one else ever has and it's one of a kind. I'm back home in my families house now but when I again move into my own place I plan to devote an entire wall to these mirrors.  Here are just some of the few I've made...

The love of the felted Acorns

I have been seeing felted acorns for a while now and I really do love them. The look easy enough to make, it seems like the hardest part would be the actual gathering of the acorn tops. Where does one find all those tops? I guess in theory what you would do is find a tree with squirrels and just wait for them to drop some right? There are a lot of squirrels in Central Park but they are more inclined to rummage through the trash can them gather acorns. This will be my Fall Goal, to find tops and create felted acorns and someone integrate them into a center piece for Thanksgiving. Yup, that's what I'm going to do...

Up in the Garden: August 7th

I HAVE TOMATOES!!!! Honestly I never thought it was going to happen. My neighbors put a tomato plant up on the roof back in July and the damn thing has been taunting me all summer. It mocked me, I tell you! Being all like, "Hey, look at me and my awesome little cherry tomatoes. Don't you wish yours would look this good?" While my tomato plant (grown from seeds) steadily grew little by litte, never flowering, never blooming. But I can now proudly say to you, my day has come. The stars have lined up and I have tomatoes! Still just little babies but they exist and that's all that matters. I have no luck with tomatoes last year so I am super thrilled with my progress.  I also have bell peppers. My hot peppers have been thriving but I am just now getting Bells. Can I just say, I am very very proud of myself.

I made a Treasury!

I love Treasuries on Etsy. I spend hours just trolling through them, looking at all the cool things people throw together in interesting ways. So today I decided to make my own. I was stuck for a theme but then I though to myself, "Oh Mollie, what's your theme for life? The color green!" So I created a Treasury called, "In the Emerald City" using all the shades of green I could think of. I also threw in Peacock feathers for good measure. There is a Peacock wedding bouquet that I am absolutely in LOVE with! Take a look.

I love to watch Roller Coasters. I don't like to ride them.
