Spring Has Sprung!
Ok, so not really. Last week I bought an absolutely delicious tomato and decided to attempt to save some of the seeds for my garden. I found a blog online that said to put them in a jar of water for three to five days and then dry them and tuck in an envelope. Backfired, the seeds started to sprout. I panicked and put them in dirt. So behold, my seedlings....

City Fun Crafty: Loop of the Loom
Right before Christmas I had the opportunity to try weaving for the first time. I'd never had much interest in looming before but the girl I nanny for AKA "Little Bit" had and loves it. So she took me to Loop of the Loom. Located in a tiny below level spot on the upper East side, Loop of the Loom is a cozy little spot to create really awesome pieces of art. If you've never done weaving before, you might be intimidated by the huge loom at first but the actual act of weaving is fairly simple and once you get the hang of it, really relaxing. Kind of a "wax on, wax off" type of deal. In the two hour span we had to work I created a rainbow piece and a smaller piece of blues for my mother. Unfortunately, it expensive. A two hour session will run you about $70 but even if it leaves a bit of a hole in my pocket, I enjoyed it so much that I'm tempted to make a return trip.

Mollie Bakes: An attempt at Cake Pops
My boyfriends birthday is on Valentines day but the party was held this past Saturday. In his culture, it's unlucky to celebrate a birthday before the date so there was to be no cake and no presents. I desperately wanted to bake a cake and I've been waiting for a reason to try my hand at cake pops so this was my chance. All the research I'd done suggested that cake pops were fun and simple. Not so true, they take a lot of time and are really messy but the end result is a cute, fun little cake on a stick.

The thing with cake pops is that the cake needs to be cold. You have to make it and let it sit in the fridge for a day. Then you have to mush it with the frosting and let that sit for a few hours. Then you have to dip them in chocolate and put them back in the fridge so they can sit some more. It's a process. I attempted to make peanut butter and jelly cake pops and was somewhat successful. I used peanut butter melting chips from A.C. Moore and regular strawberry jelly. I also did regular chocolate and white chocolate mint (because I meant to get regular white chocolate but ended up accidentally getting white mint)

Cake pops are fun but time consuming. People will love them so it's worth it. - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Cheap Thrills!
I love the Old Navy down on 19th street cause they have a jewelry section and this past weekend they had a sale. Dirt cheap, fun stuff to play with. I got two pairs of colorful dangle earrings which I pulled apart to make smaller and in my opinion, cuter earrings. I'm so handy!

Up in the Garden...or not.
A couple of weeks ago I was informed that the work being done on the roof won't be finished till June. For those of you not from NYC that really means July or August. I'm crushed. I had big plans for my garden this year. Yesterday I snuck up to the roof to see how bad it was. I almost wept.
